Autonomy and rights of the minor patient vis-à-vis parental authority

The fact that the possibility of performing a medical procedure depends on the patient's consent demonstrates the importance of this institution. The requirement to obtain consent for the provision of medical services is regulated by the provisions of the Constitution and laws on medical professions and patients' rights. This issue may give rise to a number of problems in practice, particularly when disagreements arise over the exercise of parental authority over a minor, especially with regard to the incompatibility of the will of the minor and his or her legal representatives.
