The main objective of the research carried out was to identify the most important elements regarding communication in a treatment situation with regard to the white staff-patient relationship. Taking into account in particular the suicidal situation, which continues to be treated as a taboo subject. This article presents reports from the own research carried out since 2016 as part of the activities of the Polish Suicidological Society
- Lublin Branch. The respondents are people with mental disorders who reported to the Society for psychological consultations. The research group is made up of equal numbers of men and women (n=100), mainly from the Lubelskie and Małopolskie voivodeships. Based on the analysis of the research material and the collected literature, the following practical conclusions can be drawn: - there is a need to direct more social campaigns on the issue of communication in a hospitalisation situation, - there are too few social actions aimed directly at patients, their relatives and medical staff, which should be implemented in order to broaden the knowledge of elementary aspects related to hospitalisation, - the white staff does not have adequate knowledge (or has too little of it), - the medical staff has inadequate skills to work with people with suicidal tendencies, - there should be an emphasis on the aspect of psychological preparation in medical, nursing and other studies, which would facilitate the work of medical staff. The paper therefore has a theoretical-practical dimension in connection with the attached elements on projective methods, by means of which more information can be obtained from the research group. Communication in hospitalisation and treatment situations is a very complex aspect.
