The transformations taking place in the modern healthcare system have affected various areas of functioning, including the change in the doctor-patient relationship. There are increasing demands on medical personnel in the area of interpersonal relations with patients in healthcare institutions. The results of numerous studies indicate that effective physician-patient communication is associated with better somatic, mental and social health indicators. It is one of the most important variables influencing the patient's recovery process, as well as the prevention of relapse. The aim of this article is to compare models of the doctor-patient relationship based on health paradigms that view illness and human beings in different ways.
